*The Top 10 Happiest Countries in the World*

I came across this article while reading one of the local weekly Chinese newspapers here in Australia （世界週報）. It lists the top 10 happiest countries in the world. It was pretty interesting, as I read a friend's blog entry several months ago that Bhutan was the happiest country in the world, but in this article it only makes it to 8th place. For those who can't read it， here is a basic translation which lists the countries and the reasons why they are deemed as one of the happiest in the world：

1） Denmark: The country is relatively small, has high quality education, is wealthy and has an excellent sanitation and health care system.

2) Switzerland: The country has a low crime rate, excellent infrastructure and a lof of natural resources.

3) Australia (yay): Our country has beautiful scenery, a vast cultural landscape, a relaxed atmosphere and an effective transportation system (not so in the Gold Coast where I live, but with the population growing steadily that's bound to change...hopefully)!

4) Iceland: Aside from it's many hot springs, Iceland's government also has a well-loved welfare system.

5) Bahamas: Despite it's relatively high poverty rate, it's relaxed atmosphere and it's fusion of European and African cultures are reasons why this Carribean nation is stilll highly ranked.

6) Finland: This country has very cheap or totally free high-quality medical treatment, education and very low poverty.

7) Sweden: Despite very harsh winter days, the Swedes enjoy balance between work and leisure, benefits from its welfare system and social equality.

8) Bhutan: The relatively low life expectancy and the low literacy rates have done little to affect the happiness of the people of Bhutan. They remain happy due to the fact that their unique culture remains preserved and that there way of life remains relatively unchanged.

9) Brunei: The abundance of oil reserves has brought massive wealth into this small Southeast Asian country. The fact that the same family has ruled over Brunei has also ensured the stability of the country.

10) Canada: Like most of the countries above, Canada has beautiful natural sceneries.
